Aichi Prefecture, Prefecture in central Honshu, Japan

Aichi Prefecture spans across 5,172 square kilometers, containing 38 cities including Nagoya, Toyota, and Okazaki, with a population of 7.5 million inhabitants.

The region formed from the union of Owari and Mikawa provinces in 1872, developing into a manufacturing center during the following industrial revolution of Japan.

The name Aichi originated from an ancient poem in the Man'yoshu anthology, referencing the Ayuchi tidal flat that characterized this coastal region.

The prefecture maintains extensive transportation networks through JR Central railways, multiple expressways, and the Port of Nagoya for international maritime commerce.

The region generates the highest industrial revenue in Japan, serving as headquarters for Toyota Motor Corporation and numerous automotive manufacturing facilities.
