Nagashima Spa Land, Theme park in Kuwana, Japan

Nagashima Spa Land is an amusement park in Kuwana, Mie, about 30 km west of Nagoya, on a peninsula bordered by water. It holds 12 roller coasters, among them the white steel Steel Dragon 2000 with its 97 m lift and the hybrid Hakugei, plus the 90 m Aurora Wheel, a summer seawater pool, the Yuami-no-Shima hot spring complex, hotels and an outlet mall.

The complex opened in 1966 as a modest amusement park and grew over decades through additions of thermal baths, more rides, and accommodations. During the 1990s large roller coasters were added that turned the grounds into one of Japan's major leisure destinations.

The park's mascot since October 2003 is Peter Rabbit, under the world's first licensing agreement of its kind; before that, Woody Woodpecker served as mascot from around 1978 until 1993. The adjacent hot spring complex Yuami-no-Shima, the largest facility of its kind in Japan, anchors the resort alongside the park.

The complex usually opens around half past nine in the morning and closes in the afternoon or evening depending on the season. Buses run directly from Nagoya Station to the entrance, and the water park operates only during warmer months.

One of the roller coasters holds the record as the longest steel construction of its kind worldwide and reaches a height of over 90 meters (295 feet). The ride lasts several minutes and travels across the entire park grounds.
