Ghibli Park, Theme park in Nagakute, Japan.
Ghibli Park sits within the Expo 2005 Aichi Commemorative Park in Nagakute and divides into five separate areas featuring rebuilt environments from Japanese animated films. Each area requires its own ticket and shows buildings, landscapes, and interiors in full scale.
The site opened as a park in November 2022 after serving nearly two decades as green space following the 2005 World Exposition. The transformation brought new structures into the existing forest and hills without completely reshaping the natural surroundings.
The name comes from the Japanese animation studio whose characters and stories appear throughout every area. Visitors walk through spaces that recreate scenes from different films, from a red tower to a wooded hillside and an underground exhibition building.
Each area of the park has a limited visitor capacity and requires a separate ticket, so it helps to book entry in advance. The paths lead through wooded slopes and open ground, and sturdy footwear makes walking easier.
Unlike other theme parks, there are no rides or roller coasters here, only walkable buildings and paths through forests. The trees and meadows that were already present before opening remained largely intact and form part of the setting.
