Seto Digital Tower, Broadcasting tower in Seto, Japan
Seto Digital Tower is a broadcasting antenna in the city of Seto in Japan, transmitting the digital television signal for the Nagoya metropolitan area. Its six outer steel legs support a central lattice structure that rises to a height of roughly 245 meters (800 feet).
The tower started operating in 2011, replacing the Nagoya TV Tower during the transition to digital television. This change marked the end of the analog broadcasting era in the region.
This broadcasting facility represents the integration of modern telecommunications infrastructure within Seto, a city traditionally known for its pottery craftsmanship.
The tower stands on a hill east of central Seto and can be seen from several viewpoints around the area. The facility itself is not open to visitors, but its shape defines the city skyline.
The six supporting legs of the tower form a hexagon at the base, a construction rarely seen among Japanese transmission structures. This arrangement provides stability during strong winds and earthquakes.
