Seiyo, Administrative city in Ehime Prefecture, Japan

Seiyo is a city in Ehime Prefecture that stretches between Uwa Bay and the Shikoku Mountains. The area brings together coastal landscapes, urban zones, and mountainous terrain in a single region.

The city was created in 2004 through the merger of several former towns in the old Iyo Province. This region had been part of Uwajima Domain during the Edo period.

The Otoi Sumo Tournament in Nomura district maintains local wrestling traditions, while multiple museums present collections of agricultural tools and regional artifacts.

The Yosan Line of Shikoku Railway connects this city to major transportation hubs across the prefecture. Multiple train stations serve different areas, making it easy to reach various parts of this region.

The Shikoku Seiyo Geopark displays geological formations shaped by dramatic elevation changes from sea level to mountain peaks. This certified area reveals the layered geology and natural forces that shaped this landscape.
