Sayama

Located 40 kilometers northwest of Tokyo, Sayama covers 45 square kilometers of land along the Iruma River with a population of 149,826 residents.

The settlement developed as a post station during the Kamakura period, before officially forming in 1954 through the merger of Irumagawa town with five neighboring villages.

The city maintains production of Sayama Tea, a regional agricultural product, while hosting seasonal festivals that connect residents with Japanese traditions.

The Seibu Railway lines and multiple highways provide transportation links between Sayama and surrounding cities, making it suitable for Tokyo commuters.

The Honda automobile assembly plant, established in 1964, manufactures various models including the Fit and CR-V, contributing to the city's industrial identity.
