Chikōzan Park

Chikōzan Park is an urban park in Sayama with a children's zoo, walking trails, gardens, and open spaces to explore. The grounds feature two playgrounds designed for different age groups and various activities.

The park was created as part of Sayama's urban development to establish green spaces that balance city growth with natural surroundings. It demonstrates how modern city planning integrates nature into densely built areas.

The children's zoo displays around 110 animal species, including Japanese rabbits and native wildlife that visitors can observe up close. The focus is on helping children learn about the animals found in their own region.

The park is open daily except Mondays and offers various areas for walking and playing for all ages. Flat paths and ample space make it easy to explore, and shaded rest areas are available throughout.

During colder months, visitors can watch monkeys and capybaras in heated pools, while summer brings special water activities for the capybaras. These seasonal changes show how zoo staff adjust care to match the animals' needs throughout the year.
