Osaka Prefectural Government Sakishima Building, Government skyscraper in Nanko-kita, Japan.
The Osaka Prefectural Government Sakishima Building is a modern skyscraper in Nankō-kita that dominates the local skyline with its glass and steel facade. The structure contains 55 floors above ground along with 3 basement levels and functions as the current seat of prefectural administration.
The building opened in 1995 as a trade center and took on new purpose when the prefectural government acquired it in 2010. It has served as the administrative hub for Osaka Prefecture ever since.
The observation deck on the 55th floor presents views of Osaka Bay, mountain ranges, and neighboring islands while visitors enjoy local specialties like Sakishima Priyan.
Visitors reach the observation platform on the 52nd floor by transparent elevator, then continue by escalators to the 55th floor for wider views. The upper level provides good orientation for exploring the city and surrounding areas.
The building was intentionally designed to match the height of the Rinku Gate Tower Building, creating visual balance in the skyline. This deliberate choice shapes how the waterfront area of Osaka appears to observers.
