Midori-ku, Administrative ward in Chiba, Japan

Midori-ku spans across 66.25 square kilometers of southeastern Chiba city, featuring residential neighborhoods interspersed with parks and green spaces.

During the Edo period, this area contained the jin'ya of Oyumi Domain, governed by the Morikawa clan from 1627 until 1871 under Tokugawa rule.

The ward maintains several temples and shrines where residents participate in traditional ceremonies and seasonal festivals throughout the year.

The ward's population of 127,368 residents benefits from a network of municipal schools, shopping centers, and direct train connections to central Chiba.

Three prominent manga artists and a Grand Prix motorcycle racer have emerged from this inland ward of southeastern Chiba city.
