Kiyama Station, railway station in Kiyama, Miyaki district, Saga prefecture, Japan
Kiyama Station is a railway station in the town of Kiyama, Saga Prefecture, Japan. It has two side platforms and one island platform, all connected by stairs and walkways from the station building above.
The station opened in 1921 and has been running for over a century. It has seen several changes over the decades, though traces of its early structure are still visible today.
The station serves as a gathering point for commuters and visitors from the surrounding region. Daily routines of workers, students, and travelers intersect here as people move between Saga and Fukuoka.
There are no elevators in the station, so using the stairs is the only way to move between the platforms and the building. Passengers changing between the JR Kyushu and Amagi Railway lines need to exit and re-enter the building, as the two lines have no direct link inside.
Kiyama Station is served by two separate railway companies, JR Kyushu and Amagi Railway, which is uncommon for a town of this size. The Amagi Line starts and ends at this station, making it the only terminus on that route.
