Kamikawa

Located on the western border of Saitama Prefecture, Kamikawa extends over 47 square kilometers with mountains and forests surrounding the residential areas.

The town formed in 1954 through the merger of Tanshō and Aoyagi villages, later incorporating Watarase in 1957 and achieving town status in 1987.

The Kanasana Shrine stands as a central religious site where residents gather for traditional ceremonies and seasonal celebrations throughout the year.

The town maintains four elementary schools and one middle school, while many residents commute to neighboring Honjō for work opportunities.

The Kanna River marks the natural boundary between Kamikawa and Gunma Prefecture, while the Chichibu Mountains separate it from the rest of Saitama.
