Kamikawa

Kamikawa is a town in Kodama district on the western border of Saitama Prefecture, situated in a landscape of mountains and forests. The residential areas are nestled within extensive forested terrain and elevated geography.

The town originated in 1954 from the merger of Tanshō and Aoyagi villages, with territorial expansion continuing through subsequent annexations. Growth and administrative changes shaped its development over the following decades.

The Kanasana Shrine serves as a gathering place where residents participate in traditional ceremonies and seasonal festivals throughout the year. The shrine remains central to local religious practices and community celebrations.

The town has several schools and easy connections to nearby urban centers where many residents work. Visitors should plan for a rural setting with facilities distributed across the area rather than concentrated in one location.

The Kanna River and Chichibu Mountains create natural boundaries that define the town's isolated position between prefectures. These geographic features give the area its remote character and distinct separation from surrounding regions.
