Jōmine Park, Mountain park in Kamikawa, Japan
Jōmine Park is a mountain park in Kamikawa situated at about 500 meters above sea level with spacious grounds. The area contains around 600 winter cherry trees and Japanese maple trees that provide different visual interest throughout the seasons.
The park was founded in 1973 during a period when Japan was actively developing more recreational spaces in natural areas. This establishment occurred during a time of economic growth that made possible investments in public leisure facilities.
The Winter Cherry Festival takes place on the last Sunday of October, bringing together local producers who present regional products and artistic performances.
The park is open daily from 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM at no cost, while the illumination season from late October through December offers extended hours until 8:00 PM. Visitors should prepare for varying weather conditions at this elevation depending on the season.
The winter cherry trees bloom from late October through December and create a rare natural display where pink blossoms appear alongside red autumn maple leaves. This unusual flowering combination occurs only during this specific season in this region.
