Sasaguri, Administrative town in Kasuya district, Japan

Sasaguri is a town in Kasuya district with varied terrain, featuring flat areas in the western parts and mountains rising to the east. The landscape shapes how communities are spread throughout and creates different experiences as you move from one area to another.

The area belonged to Chikuzen Province in ancient times and later came under Fukuoka Domain during the Edo Period. This shift in control connected the region's development to the larger Fukuoka area.

The town has 88 temples scattered throughout that form a pilgrimage circuit, with many of them woven into daily community life. These sacred sites shape the character of the streets and the way residents interact with their surroundings.

The town connects to nearby cities through multiple railway stations on the Sasaguri and Kashii Lines, with Chojabaru Station serving both. These connections make it straightforward to explore the area and reach other parts of the region.

The town jointly manages a forest with Kyushu University for environmental research and conservation. This partnership shows how a small community contributes to scientific efforts in the larger region.
