Wake, Town in Wake District, Okayama Prefecture, Japan
Wake spans across 144.21 square kilometers of southeastern Okayama Prefecture, where the Yoshii River and Kongo River intersect among hills and forests.
Wake emerged as a village in 1889 during the creation of modern municipalities, gained town status in 1901, and merged with Saeki town in 2006.
The Wamojiyaki festival takes place every August 15 during Obon period, bringing together residents for traditional celebrations and community gatherings.
The town maintains three elementary schools, two junior high schools, and one high school, serving approximately 13,833 residents across 6,353 households.
Wake contains Japan's largest Wisteria park, featuring extensive collections of flowering vines that create natural canopies throughout the grounds.
