Bizen Osafune Sword Museum

The Bizen Osafune Sword Museum displays traditional Japanese swords and features demonstrations of ancient forging techniques by local master craftsmen.

Established in 1983, this museum stands in Osafune district, which produced half of all Japanese swords designated as national treasures throughout history.

The museum preserves sword-making traditions through workshops where visitors learn about blade polishing, engraving techniques, and handle decorations.

Located at 1005 Osafunecho, the museum opens from 9 AM to 5 PM, charges 500 yen for adults, and offers forging demonstrations every second Sunday.

The facility includes active sword-making studios where current artisans utilize local ironsand, red pine, and water from Yoshii River for blade production.
