Yamato

Yamato is a town in northeastern Kumamoto Prefecture that sits on elevated plateaus surrounded by mountain ranges. The community includes schools and local government facilities that serve residents across its rural landscape.

The town was established in 2005 when three separate municipalities merged into a single administrative unit. This merger combined communities from different districts to form a larger municipality.
