Yanase Takashi Memorial Hall, Biographical museum in Kami, Japan

The Yanase Takashi Memorial Hall is a complex in Kami, Kōchi Prefecture, made up of the Anpanman Museum, the Shi to Meruhen Picture Book Museum, an annex and a storage building, next to the roadside station Miroku. The Anpanman Museum building, designed by Nobuaki Furuya and Sachiko Yagi, has a flat front of smooth light grey walls with a tall grid of blue-tinted glass nine columns wide; a narrow red panel on the left reads "やなせたかし記念館" in white, and a small orange figure stands on the upper right of the roofline.

Kami City built the hall after a 1992 plan for a civic culture complex; Yanase, seeing that Osamu Tezuka's museum opened only after Tezuka's death, put his own money into a memorial during his lifetime. The Anpanman Museum opened in July 1996, the Poetry and Fairy-Tale Picture-Book Hall in August 1998, the annex in January 2001 and the memorial park in February 2005. The name changed to Kami City in April 2006 after the town merger, and the complex reopened on 29 March 2025 with advance reservations required.

The museum's name combines "Yanase Takashi Memorial Hall" with "Anpanman Museum": Yanase wanted only the character's name, but the town of Kahoku insisted on honouring him, so both were kept. The site also holds the Poetry and Fairy-Tale Picture-Book Hall, opened in August 1998, and a branch building from January 2001.

The museum stands next to the roadside station Mirobu in Kōnan, Kami, about 60 minutes by car from central Kōchi and 40 minutes from Kōchi Ryōma Airport. From Tosa-Yamada Station, a JR Shikoku bus to Ōtoshi takes about 25 minutes to the Mirobu stop, then a five-minute walk. Entry is by advance reservation only, with a daily cap of about 3,000 visitors since March 2025.

The museum opened in July 1996 after Yanase, seeing that Osamu Tezuka's memorial was built only after Tezuka's death, put his own money into founding it while still alive. He had wanted it called simply Anpanman Museum, but the town insisted on his name, so both were combined.
