Dainichi-ji

Dainichi-ji is a Buddhist temple in Kōnan and serves as the twenty-eighth station of the Shikoku Pilgrimage. The grounds include several buildings arranged for Buddhist practice and quiet meditation activities.

A Buddhist monk named Gyōki founded this sacred site during the eighth century and helped spread Buddhism across the Shikoku region. Later, it became integrated into the renowned pilgrimage route system as an important station.

The temple holds a revered statue of the cosmic Buddha that draws special attention from devoted visitors today. This representation plays an important role in the daily prayers and meditations that visitors can witness on site.

The temple grounds are open from sunrise to sunset and have parking available on site. Visitors will find traditional prayer materials here that can support their personal devotion.

The temple performs regular ceremonies featuring traditional Buddhist chants that weave in local musical elements from the Shikoku region. This blend of spiritual practice with regional cultural roots makes the experience here distinctive.
