Geibikei

The limestone cliffs rise 50 meters above the Satetsu River, creating vertical walls that extend for 2 kilometers through the gorge.

The gorge gained recognition during the Meiji period when local merchants established boat tours to transport visitors through the natural formations.

Local boatmen perform traditional folk songs called Geibi Oiwake while navigating wooden boats through the narrow passages of the gorge.

Visitors can access the gorge via a 5-minute walk from Geibikei Station, with boat tours operating daily from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM.

At the midpoint of the boat journey, visitors throw lucky stones called undama at a specific hole in the cliff face for different wishes.
