Beng Mealea, Temple in Cambodia
Beng Mealea is a sprawling jungle temple covering over one square kilometer, located about 40 kilometers east of the main group of Angkor.
It was built during the reign of King Suryavarman II in the early 12th century.
The temple exhibits classic Khmer architecture with a mix of Hindu and Buddhist imagery.
Overgrown by jungle, Beng Mealea offers an 'adventurer's exploration' experience due to its unrestored condition.
Unlike other Angkor temples, no historical records or inscriptions have been found at Beng Mealea.
