South Hwanghae Province, Administrative province in western North Korea
South Hwanghae Province extends along the Yellow Sea coastline, containing numerous small islands and fertile agricultural plains for cultivation.
The province emerged in 1954 when the former Hwanghae Province divided into two separate administrative regions following the Korean Peninsula division.
The region contains multiple archaeological sites, including iron age dolmens, Koguryo tombs, and the Kangsosa Buddhist temple with stone pagodas.
The provincial capital Haeju functions as the primary port facility in southern North Korea, facilitating maritime transportation and commerce.
Kwail County within South Hwanghae Province maintains dedicated orchards specifically established for fruit cultivation to support regional agriculture.
