Mokpo Bridge, Road bridge in Mokpo, South Korea.
Mokpo Bridge crosses the Yeongsan River using a three-span design that stretches roughly 900 meters in total length. The structure features steel box girders mounted on concrete supports and connects industrial zones, residential areas, and transportation hubs on both riverbanks.
Construction began in 2012 and the bridge opened to traffic in June of that year. This marked an important milestone for regional infrastructure and significantly improved traffic connections between different areas of Mokpo.
The bridge links Mokpo's port district to modern residential neighborhoods, showing how the city balances maritime roots with contemporary growth. Travelers crossing it notice the contrast between the busy harbor and newly developed areas beyond.
The crossing is accessible to both pedestrians and vehicles, though rest areas are limited, so plan your crossing in advance. Visibility and traffic flow are generally best in early morning or evening hours.
The two outer spans are noticeably shorter than the central main section, giving the structure its distinctive asymmetrical form. This design allows large ships to pass underneath the center arch without blocking river traffic.
