State Nature Reservat "Akzhaiyk"

The Akzhaiyk reserve is a large protected area in the Atyrau region made up of wetlands, steppes, and floodplain zones. These different habitats support a range of plants and animals adapted to semi-arid conditions.

The territory gained its official protected status in 2009 under Kazakhstan's Ministry of Ecology. This designation was a major step in preserving the region's natural ecosystems.
