Diyaluma Falls, Natural cascade in Badulla District, Sri Lanka
The water drops over 220 meters in multiple tiers, creating natural swimming pools at different levels along the mountainside.
The falls holds connections to an ancient tale of a highland chieftain and his betrothed, who perished while climbing the steep rocks.
The name translates from Sinhalese as 'liquid light' or 'rapid flow of water', reflecting the local perception of the natural formation.
The waterfall requires a 40-minute hike through grasslands from the parking area, with local guides available to show the safest paths.
Visitors can access several natural infinity pools near the edge of the falls, offering views across the surrounding mountain landscape.
