Thambiluvil Sri Kannaki amman temple, Hindu shrine in Ampara District, Sri Lanka
The temple contains four distinct halls including Karuvarai, Mun Mandapam, Nadu Mandapam, and Maha Mandapam, located 70 kilometers south of Batticaloa.
The temple's construction dates to the period of King Gajabahu I between 113-135 CE, when he introduced the Pattini religious practices to the region.
Religious ceremonies take place during the Vaikasi month of the Tamil calendar, featuring ritual processions and community food preparation for thousands of participants.
Regular worship services occur every Tuesday and Friday, with the temple remaining open for visitors to observe traditional Hindu religious practices.
A Tamil inscription from the 16th century, measuring 1.5 meters tall, displays engravings of peacocks and sacred weapons associated with Hindu deities.
