Tyszkiewicz chapel, Trakų Vokė

Tyszkiewicz chapel is a neo-Gothic building in Trakų Vokė with white plaster walls and four saint statues adorning its exterior. The structure stands alongside Trakų Vokė Manor and includes a basement crypt chamber beneath the main floor.

The chapel was built in 1856 as a mausoleum for the Tyszkiewicz family, who controlled and developed the surrounding estate throughout the 1800s. It emerged during a period when the family expanded their presence across the property.

The chapel shows how wealthy families in the 19th century linked their faith with family traditions and remembrance. It served as a place where the Tyszkiewicz gathered to honor their deceased.

The chapel sits along the road connecting Vilnius and Trakai, making it reachable by public transportation from Vilnius city center. Access depends on whether religious services or visitor hours are scheduled on the day of your visit.

The basement crypt holds the burial remains of Jan Witold Tyszkiewicz, who commissioned the adjacent manor house. This direct connection between chapel and residence reveals how deeply personal this site was to the family.
