Church of the Annunciation, Lentvaris

Church of the Annunciation, Lentvaris, Catholic church in Lentvaris, Lithuania.

The Church of the Annunciation is a red brick religious building with a large central tower, tall windows, and rounded arches. The interior features a traditional layout with a choir area, altar space, and a main nave that accommodates visitors.

Construction of the building began after 1905 when local authorities granted permission, following an earlier wooden chapel that served the community. The new structure arose during a period when church building projects were resuming in the region.

The church displays ornamental wall murals and sgraffito decorations from the early 20th century that reflect local artistic traditions. These decorative elements shaped the visual character of the interior and remain central to how visitors experience the space.

Religious services are held in Lithuanian and Polish languages, while a Latin Requiem Mass occurs on the first Monday of each month. Visitors should check opening times in advance and dress respectfully when entering.

The building's design draws from the Santa Maria delle Grazie Church in Milan, which the patron Count Tyszkiewicz admired. This Italian influence arriving in Lithuania demonstrates how international architectural ideas were adopted locally in the early 20th century.
