Dzegužkalns

Dzegužkalns is a public park built on a hill at the highest point in Riga, with walking paths winding through green spaces. The terrain features multiple areas designed for different activities and movement throughout the site.

The park was established in 1901 as a new recreational space for Riga residents and surrounding communities. This development represented an important step in creating public green areas for the expanding city.

The park hosts the midsummer folk songs festival, where local musicians perform traditional Latvian music accompanied by food vendors and celebrations.

The site has clean restroom facilities, playgrounds for children, and areas for winter activities like sledding. Comfortable shoes are recommended since paths lead across hilly terrain.

From the summit, visitors can see views of the Daugava River valley and sections of Riga's Old Town. This vantage point reveals how the city sits within its river landscape and historic districts.
