Gasr Banat

Gasr Banat is a Roman military fortification in Libya with defensive structures designed to monitor the surrounding region during antiquity. The ruins display the layout and strategic positioning of walls that once formed an ancient garrison site.

This military installation was built during the third century as part of Rome's network in ancient Tripolitania. Archaeological finds like pottery fragments confirm the period when this site was active and occupied.

The structure displays Roman building techniques mixed with local North African methods in its visible walls and layout. Visitors can observe this blend of different construction approaches in what remains standing today.
