Amal Women's Training Center and Moroccan Restaurant, Nonprofit culinary training center and restaurant in Marrakesh, Morocco
Amal is a training center and restaurant in Marrakesh that offers intensive programs in culinary arts, hospitality management, and business operations for women between 18 and 35 years old. The operation combines both functions, with the restaurant serving as a practical learning environment for students.
The center was founded in 2012 and began operations in 2013 after the founder secured funding through crowdfunding and a grant from the Drosos Foundation. This financial foundation enabled the launch of a pioneering support program for disadvantaged women.
The daily-changing menu showcases traditional Moroccan cooking methods as women gain hands-on kitchen experience. The meals reflect regional recipes passed down through generations.
The restaurant serves lunch daily from 12:00 to 16:00, while dinner is available only by reservation for groups of 20 or more people. Visitors should plan their meal timing accordingly and arrange larger groups in advance.
Graduates of the program achieve an 80 percent employment rate and receive instruction in three languages along with regular therapy sessions during their training. This comprehensive support helps women develop both professional and personal skills.
