Béni Mellal-Khénifra, Administrative region in north-central Morocco.
Béni Mellal-Khénifra is an administrative region in central Morocco comprising five provinces: Azilal, Beni Mellal, Fquih Ben Salah, Khenifra, and Khouribga, with Beni Mellal serving as capital. The territory stretches across diverse landscapes ranging from mountains to plains.
The region was formed in 2015 when the former Tadla-Azilal territory merged with Khouribga and Khenifra provinces. This administrative reorganization reshaped local governance in central Morocco.
The Tadla Plain is watered by the Oum Er-Rbia River, shaping daily life with farmland where you see cereals, beets, olives, citrus trees, and pomegranates growing across the landscape.
The region connects to major cities through the A4 expressway and National Route 8, with air service available through Beni Mellal Airport. Getting around the different provinces is easier if you plan travel between the scattered settlements.
Near Khouribga lies the Ouled Abdoun Basin, one of the world's largest phosphate deposits. This mineral wealth shapes the economic life of the surrounding area.
