Casablanca Finance City, Financial center in Hay Hassani district, Casablanca, Morocco
Casablanca Finance City is a business district in the Hay Hassani area, built on the grounds of the city's former airport and designed to house financial and professional services firms. The complex is made up of several connected office towers and mid-rise buildings, with shared walkways, conference facilities, and ground-floor services.
The center was created in 2010 through a Moroccan law designed to position the country as a financial base for companies operating across Africa and beyond. The land it occupies once belonged to Casablanca's former airport, which had been out of use for decades before the project began.
The name of the complex reflects its ambition to serve as a meeting point for African and international businesses, and that is visible in everyday life on the grounds. English and French are the main working languages heard here, and the architecture looks outward rather than inward.
The complex is easy to walk through, with clear signage connecting the buildings and open outdoor areas between them. A weekday visit gives a much better sense of how the place works, as it is largely empty on weekends.
Although the complex was built as a financial center, it also hosts the offices of several pan-African organizations, giving it a role that goes beyond banking and investment. This makes it one of the few places in Morocco where representatives from across the African continent regularly meet in person.
