Tazouda Castle

Tazouda Castle is a stone fortification perched on Mount Gourougou near Nador at approximately 720 meters elevation. Its position offers expansive views of the northeastern Moroccan coastline stretching below.

The fortress was built in the 11th century as a military defensive structure for the region. It played an important role in medieval northern Morocco's system of territorial protection.
