Wooden church of Hirișeni, Wooden religious monument in Village Museum of Chișinău, Moldova
The Wooden Church of Hirișeni is an Orthodox building constructed from oak wood with traditional design elements, located within the Village Museum of Chișinău. The structure stands approximately 27 meters tall and displays characteristic architectural features of Moldovan church construction.
The building was originally constructed in 1642 at Hîrjauca Monastery before being moved to Hirișeni in 1821. It was relocated to Chișinău in 2009 to preserve this important example of Moldovan architectural heritage.
The interior displays religious icons that reflect the spiritual traditions of Moldovan churches. The space shows how the faithful have practiced their devotion through generations.
The church is located within the Village Museum and can be visited during museum hours. The structure is easy to spot since it rises noticeably above the other buildings in the museum grounds.
This is the tallest wooden structure of its kind in Moldova and displays architectural influences from the neighboring Bukovina region. This connection to neighboring regional architecture often surprises visitors.
