Millennium Cross, Steel cross on Mount Vodno near Skopje, North Macedonia
The Millennium Cross rises 66 meters high at an elevation of 1066 meters, making it a visible structure from many parts of Skopje.
The Macedonian Orthodox Church and government constructed this cross in 2002 to mark 2000 years of Christianity in the region.
Religious services and gatherings take place at the cross during major Christian holidays, bringing together local communities and visitors.
Visitors can reach the cross using a cable car system that operates daily or by following hiking trails up Mount Vodno.
The steel structure contains an elevator system installed on September 8, 2008, allowing visitors to access viewing platforms within the cross.
