Millennium Cross

The Millennium Cross is a large steel structure standing atop Mount Vodno above the city. The structure rises prominently and can be seen from many places throughout the city below.

The Macedonian Orthodox Church and government built this structure in 2002 to mark 2000 years of Christianity in the region. The project represented a shared effort to commemorate this religious milestone.

The cross serves as a gathering place where people come together for religious celebrations and observances throughout the year. Communities use the site to mark important Christian holidays and moments of shared faith.

Visitors can reach this site using a cable car that operates throughout the day or by hiking up the mountain on marked trails. The site is accessible from different starting points depending on how you prefer to approach.

An elevator system inside the structure allows visitors to reach viewing platforms high above the ground. This hidden feature often surprises visitors who expect only an external monument.
