Bet Yaakov Synagogue, Jewish synagogue in central district, Skopje, North Macedonia.

Bet Yaakov Synagogue is a modern building that functions as a community center and represents the hub of Jewish life in the city. The interior features dark wooden pews decorated with Stars of David and stained glass windows displaying traditional religious symbols.

The synagogue was built in 2000 as a new center for the Jewish community after the local population was nearly destroyed during World War II. This construction allowed the community to restart its religious life after decades without a permanent gathering place.

The Sephardic Jewish community gathers here to observe religious ceremonies and major holidays, with visiting cantors and rabbis from neighboring countries leading services. These gatherings keep traditional practices alive through regular worship and celebration throughout the year.

The synagogue serves as a gathering space for the local Jewish families throughout the year and remains the center for all religious observances. Visitors should plan visits around major holidays and Sabbath observances, as these times bring the most community activity.

An embroidered red velvet curtain from the previous synagogue now hangs in front of the Ark, connecting the current building to the Jewish history of the region. This piece is one of the few physical links to the vibrant community that existed before the war.
