Gurara Waterfalls, 30-meter waterfall in Niger State, Nigeria
The Gurara River descends over segmented rocky cliffs, forming a waterfall that spans 200 meters in width across the landscape of Niger State.
A Gwari hunter named Buba discovered the waterfalls in 1745, while European explorers established it as a recreation center in 1925.
The name Gurara originates from two local deities, Gura and Rara, who received offerings from nearby communities at the waterfall site.
The waterfall reaches maximum water flow between April and November, making these months most suitable for photography and nature observation.
The water temperature at Gurara Falls maintains a constant level throughout the year due to the specific geological formations beneath the surface.
