Dutch ship Delft, Naval museum ship in Delfshaven, Netherlands.

The Delft was a 56-gun fourth-rate ship of the line with a full-rigged sail plan and two gundecks containing 24-pounder and 12-pounder guns.

Commissioned in 1783 by the United Netherlands Navy, the Delft protected Dutch traders from pirates until its capture and sinking near Scheveningen in 1797.

The ship completed humanitarian missions, including the liberation of 75 Dutch slaves from Algiers under the command of Theodorus Frederik van Capellen in 1793.

The vessel measured 144 feet in length on the gun deck with a beam of 40 feet, demonstrating the naval architecture standards of 18th-century warships.

A modern replica construction project operated at the Historical Shipyard in Delfshaven between 2001 and 2018, near the original building location.
