Dutch ship Delft

The Dutch ship Delft is a museum vessel in Delfshaven displaying a reconstruction of an 18th-century warship. Built between 2001 and 2018 at a historic shipyard, it now stands as a working example of maritime craftsmanship and traditional construction methods.

The original was built in 1783 as a warship for the United Provinces and sailed to protect trade routes. It sank in 1797 during combat off the Dutch coast and was later faithfully reconstructed at the same location.

The name references a renowned Dutch city and the ship became a symbol of national naval craftsmanship. Today visitors can see how this connection links maritime tradition to local identity.

The vessel is located in the Delfshaven harbor district, which is easily reached and explored on foot. The site has good public transport connections and sits near other maritime attractions worth visiting.
