Duinrell, Amusement park and campsite in Wassenaar, Netherlands
Duinrell is a leisure and camping park in Wassenaar that combines more than forty outdoor rides and attractions with the largest indoor water complex in the Benelux countries. The site spreads across a large area with forests and lawns where roller coasters, carousels, a petting zoo and several playgrounds are scattered throughout.
The Van Zuylen van Nijevelt family opened their private estate to visitors in April 1935 and laid the foundation for today's leisure park. In the following decades rides, accommodation options and the indoor pool were gradually added, transforming the simple country estate into a large recreation center.
The name refers to the dune landscape surrounding the site and reflects the connection to the natural coastal region. Visitors find throughout the park many references to traditional fairgrounds and Dutch architectural elements that create a local festival feeling and bring the regional leisure culture to life.
Guests can choose between simple pitches and furnished holiday homes, all offering direct access to the attractions and swimming pool. Visitors should plan enough time for both areas, as the paths between the rides and the water zone require a few minutes of walking.
The Tiki Pool houses several water slides reaching up to 22 meters (72 feet) in height, including the Pelican Dive where riders hit speeds of 70 kilometers per hour (43 miles per hour). The complex was designed with Polynesian themes and feels like a tropical island in the middle of the South Holland dunes.
