Von Gimborn Arboretum, Tree museum and botanical garden in Doorn, Netherlands
The Von Gimborn Arboretum is a botanical garden that displays thousands of different tree and shrub species spread across expansive grounds connected by walking paths. The collection brings together plants from many parts of the world, showing a wide variety of sizes, shapes, and colors.
The arboretum was founded more than a century ago and has grown into one of Europe's significant collections of trees and shrubs. Over the decades, new species were steadily added and the grounds were gradually expanded.
The site is named after the family that established it and visitors experience how different plant communities change with the seasons as they walk through the grounds. Various sections show how trees and shrubs from different regions grow and interact with one another.
The grounds are open year-round with various paths of different lengths, allowing visitors to choose a route suited to their time and energy level. Special paths with information boards support visitors with different needs and abilities.
A walking path with tactile shells and braille information boards was created specifically for visitors with visual impairments. This feature makes the grounds a place where all people can discover plants in their own way.
