Kerkje "De Rietstap"

De Rietstap is a tiny religious building in Dinxperlo with a footprint of just a few square meters and a small western tower. The structure now serves as an exhibition space that can hold only a handful of visitors at a time.

The land belonged to the Counts of Culemborg in the 15th century, and from 1647 the Te Rietstap family ran a farm on the estate. In the 20th century the small church was built and later received financial support from Gerhard Hendrik Te Rietstap.

The chapel bears the name of Gerhard Hendrik Te Rietstap, whose family worked the land for generations in this area. The name reflects the deep connection between the community and this local family that settled here long ago.

The building is cramped and can only hold a few people, so it is important to check ahead whether it is open to visitors. Best times to visit are Sunday afternoons or during summer months when regular opening times are in place.

The building was completely dismantled and rebuilt about 50 meters away in 1984 to make room for business expansion. This unusual move is a rare example of how a historic structure was physically relocated to preserve its existence.
