Operationeel Controle Centrum Rail

The Operationeel Controle Centrum Rail is a control facility in Utrecht responsible for managing train traffic across the entire country. It coordinates trains, resolves operational issues, and handles daily railway activities from a central monitoring location.

The center was established in 2010, marking a turning point in how the Dutch railway network was managed. Since then it has become a key coordination hub for nationwide train operations.

The control center employs over 300 staff members from various railway companies who work together to maintain efficient train operations throughout the Netherlands.

The facility is located on Admiraal Helfrichlaan in Utrecht and operates around the clock throughout the year. Visitors should note that it is an operational facility and public access requires prior arrangement.

The center was deliberately positioned away from Utrecht Central Station to ensure operational continuity. This location choice means that even if the station needed evacuation, train control would continue uninterrupted.
