Borggraaf Castle is an architectural complex with four brick wings arranged around a central courtyard, featuring a square tower at the northeast corner. A wide moat encircles the entire structure, emphasizing its historical defensive purpose.
The castle began around 1550 and was developed through the 17th century, with stone anchors confirming sections from 1555. Different building phases shaped its form and show how it grew over generations.
The interior displays painted ceilings and walls decorated with floral designs from the 1800s that give rooms their character. A historic kitchen shows carved wooden supports and heavy timber beams from earlier periods.
The grounds can be explored on foot or by bicycle along paths open from sunrise to sunset. The exterior architecture and moat are visible from the walking routes.
Below the western wing sit two adjacent square cellars, each with four ribbed vaults supported by octagonal center columns. These underground spaces reveal the skilled stonework and planning of the original builders.
