St. Joriskerk

St. Joriskerk is a Catholic church in the Stratum district of Eindhoven. Inside, a central nave features star vaults supported by two rows of clustered pillars arranged in a neo-Gothic cruciform basilica design.

The church was built between 1884 and 1885, replacing an older Saint George's Chapel that had stood in Stratum since around 1400. The western tower was added later and continues to shape the church's appearance.

The church is named after Saint George, a figure rooted in local tradition and worship practices. Visitors notice people gathering for prayer and devotion, giving the space its active religious character.

The interior is accessible on most days, though hours vary depending on the day of the week. It is helpful to check the opening times before visiting, especially if traveling from a distance.

The western tower was designed by Jacobus van Gils in 1911 and stands at 88 m tall. This height makes it the tallest religious building in all of Eindhoven.
