De Valkenier

De Valkenier was an amusement park in Valkenburg aan de Geul featuring attractions for children such as covered playgrounds, rollercoasters, and carnival-style rides. The site also included two restaurants and a souvenir shop to provide visitors with a complete entertainment experience.

The park was founded in 1934 as Ontspanningsoord Natuurbad Valkenburg, starting with a rowing pond and playground. It gradually evolved into a modern leisure facility offering diverse attractions for families.

The park served families as an entertainment destination where Snoopie the Clown performed shows and hosted mini-disco events for children. This character shaped the experience of many visitors over several decades.

The grounds were easy to navigate and offered areas for different age groups. Visitors should plan time to explore all areas and use the restaurants to take breaks during their visit.

The park remained a family business operated by the Otermans family for four generations before new management took over in 2019. This long continuity shaped the place's identity across nearly a century.
