De Coopvaert, Residential tower in Rotterdam, Netherlands
De Coopvaert is a residential tower in Rotterdam that rises 103 meters high, built with prefabricated concrete elements in sand color and topped with white marble details. The building holds apartments in the upper floors while the lower levels contain shops, offices, and restaurants.
The building came into existence in 2006 and reflects Rotterdam's rebuilding direction after the war, when the city reintegrated modern architecture into its urban fabric. It was part of a broader movement to revitalize the city center.
De Coopvaert serves as home to many people in the heart of the city. The mix of residential units and ground-level shops makes the spot a lively place where people live and do their daily business.
The tower connects directly to the metro system through the Erasmus and Caland lines, and has a separate parking block with a walkway. You can reach the upper levels most easily by elevator since the tower has many floors.
At the base of the tower stand three slender columns extending 30 meters high, which open up the sightline. This was a deliberate design choice to keep the historical Incassobank building visible behind it.
