The building features a square floor plan with two levels and an attic, covered by intersecting red-tiled gable roofs and bright red Groninger brick facades.
Professor Gerard Heymans commissioned architect Hendrik Petrus Berlage to design this villa in 1894, marking an early phase of modern Dutch architectural development.
The villa contains a preserved ground floor room with oak paneling, intricate wooden beams, carved figures, and stained glass windows reflecting 19th-century craftsmanship.
The structure functions as an office space since 1960, with previous tenants including Klein Architekten from 1960 to 2010 and Toyisme Studio until 2017.
A rectangular wooden structure with red roof tiles stands in the garden, originally built as Professor Heymans' personal research and work atelier.
