Professor Gerard Heymans commissioned architect Hendrik Petrus Berlage in 1894 to design this villa, a key work from the early phase of modern Dutch architecture. The house was built during a shift away from traditional styles toward new design approaches.
The ground floor interior preserves 19th-century craftsmanship through oak paneling, carved wooden beams, and stained glass windows. These rooms show how wealthy households decorated their homes during that era.
