Graftombe van Nellesteyn, Family tomb in Leersum, Netherlands.

The Nellesteyn tomb sits on the Donderberg hill and reaches about 14 meters high, with a brick base section and an upper tower structure. The tower features Doric columns and is visible from multiple sides.

The monument was built in 1818 according to designs by architect J.D. Zocher Jr. and initially served as a burial place for Nellesteyn family members. The family used the structure through the 20th century.

The structure blends burial functions with Neoclassical design elements including columns and decorative details that reflect the craftsmanship of its era.

The tomb can be visited from the outside, and climbing to the viewing platform is possible when weather permits. It is wise to wear sturdy footwear, as the path is partly hilly and unpaved.

The building was more than a burial site; it also functioned as a viewing tower that let visitors look out over the surrounding forest landscape. This dual purpose was an unusual combination of remembrance and natural scenery at the time it was built.
