The Utrechtse Heuvelrug National Park extends across 10,000 hectares of forested hills, heathlands, and sand drifts in central Netherlands.
The landscape originated during the Saalien ice age when glaciers pushed sand and gravel into elevated ridges, forming the current undulating terrain.
The national park incorporates several historical estates, traditional tobacco barns, and ancient castles that reflect the regional architectural heritage.
Multiple entry points around the park connect to an extensive network of marked trails for hiking, cycling, and horseback riding through varied terrains.
The park contains the second largest forest area in Netherlands, supporting rare species like European pine martens and over 100 bird species.
