Jurgens Margarinefabriek, Former margarine factory in Oss, Netherlands
Jurgens Margarinefabriek is a former margarine production facility in Oss featuring a symmetrical facade with pressed arch windows, keystones, and multiple volumes topped with flat and shed roofs. The building displays early industrial architecture with carefully crafted details in its roof and window designs.
The building was designed in 1912 by architect Charles Estourgie and became a major margarine producer. In 1927 it merged with Van den Bergh to form Margarine Unie.
The entrance hall displays an art nouveau tile tableau showing international trade through female figures representing Europe, Asia, and Africa alongside symbolic animals.
The building now serves as a cultural center used for performances and community activities. Visitors should check opening times in advance as availability depends on scheduled events.
The central administrative hall originally featured four cross-gabled roofs with tiles and glass elements typical of early 20th-century industrial design. This roof construction demonstrates the craftsmanship and technical innovation of that era.
